Camcast’s Goulburn Facility: A Milestone in Sustainable Manufacturing

Camcast is pleased to share the story of its transition from Sydney to Goulburn, a move completed over several years and marking a new era in sustainable foundry practices. Since acquiring the Goulburn facility in 2018, Camcast has worked tirelessly to establish a state-of-the-art production space that not only preserves traditional craftsmanship but also embraces innovation in sustainable manufacturing.

The relocation process was gradual, with initial production beginning in Goulburn while operations continued in Sydney. Over two years, Camcast carefully transferred equipment and scaled up operations, until the Goulburn facility took on full production capacity. This new location now houses 100% of Camcast’s manufacturing, representing a significant evolution for the company.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the Goulburn facility features automated systems and advanced sand recycling processes that minimize waste and improve operational efficiency. Additionally, Camcast seized this opportunity to upgrade its energy sources, shifting from gas to electric power. This change, motivated by both environmental goals and regulatory standards, has resulted in a cleaner and more efficient production environment.

A defining feature of Camcast’s approach has been its commitment to honoring the legacy of its original machinery. Many pieces of equipment brought over from Sydney were initially set up for gas-powered operations and wouldn’t meet today’s certification standards. Rather than replace these proven machines, Camcast adapted them for electric power, retaining the reliability of established production methods while modernizing them for a sustainable future.

The Goulburn facility not only reflects Camcast’s dedication to responsible manufacturing but also provides room for continued growth as the business expands. This milestone underscores Camcast’s ongoing commitment to excellence in custom metalwork production, combining the wisdom of tradition with forward-looking sustainability.
